A Trace Equipment for Mobile Communication

Totally integrated with the Eclipse 3.2 Java IDE, the Universal Tracer provides convenient and simple way to trace the communications between a mobile handset and card, ease the testing and ensure the interoperability between these 2 entities.

Additional useful features enable you to trace communication in card reader and card simulators, with no additional hardware needed.

Universal Tracer provides interpretation modules, translates the trace into a comprehensive content to facilitate the process of debugging.

The Universal Tracer 3.0 is released, as replacement to VIEWS Detective, providing more features than before. Additional features support are: Communication tracing in card reader and card simulators.

Overview

Communication Tracing

Universal Tracer provides convenient and simple way to trace the communications between a mobile handset and (U)SIM to ensure the interoperability between these 2 entities.

Comparing to old product, namely VIEWS Detective, Universal Tracer provides more functionalities as per shown in table below:

Both the Universal Tracer and VIEWS Detective products use the same hardware. The only difference is in software.

With multiple tracing functionalities, Universal Tracer allows multiple tracing sessions. User can switch from one session to another easily.

Interpretation Modules

Universal Tracer enable interpretation of traces captured through the interpretation modules provided in the product. The communication translation can be customized based on user’s preferences, by configuring the interpretation modules selection and sequence arrangement.

The interpretation modules provided are as below:

File System Interpreter - Provides interpretation of File System contents.
APDU Name Interpreter - Provides interpretation of APDU Names
MSC Events Interpreter - Provides interpretation of the Mobile-SIM Connector events
Spy Care Interpreter - Enhance APDU and STK interpretation by providing more detail interpretation
STK Interpreter - Provides interpretation of STK commands
PPS Interpreter - Provides interpretation of PPS exchanges
Card ATR Interpreter - Provides interpretation of Card ATR

APIs for interpretation modules are made public. Users can creation new interpretation modules based on their needs and allow sharing among each other.
