TAP-Win32 driver installation instruction
1. Installing the TAP-Win32 driver
- download OpenVPN version 2.0.9 (or newer) here.
- run the OpenVPN installer and follow the instructions.
- when it will displays the components to install, let only the "TAP-Win32 Virtual Ethernet Adapter" checked and uncheck all others like shown bellow:

2. Configure the Network Connection
Open the Network display panel (Start/Connect To/Show all connections) and select the latest created "Local Area Connection", e.g., "Local Area Connection 2" if you had only one (it should be the one which Device Name is "TAP-Win32 Adapter V8"). Rename it "Xs_Card" (the same way you would rename a file):
Then, open with the right mouse button its menu and select "Properties". Then:

- uncheck all items except internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- select internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- in the right mouse menu, select "Properties"

- select "Use the following IP address" and type as IP address: 192.168.253.2 and as Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0, then click on Ok.
- also select "Show icon in taskbar when connected", then click on Ok.
3. Check the network connection
- Connect your Gemalto GemPCTwin Smartcard reader which must be detected by Windows and functional.
- Run pcscmon.exe application
- Open your favourite Web browser and connect to the card welcome web server page at: 192.168.253.1/idside/
