Using AT+CSQ and AT^SMONI for signal strength on EHS5 and EHS6 | Thales IoT Developer Community

Inside of EHS6 Release Notes (pg 7 of 20), there is a noted problem that AT+CSQ is to be used only to gather signal strength on 2G networks and AT^SMONI is to be used on 3G networks.
(1) Does this apply to both the EHS6 and EHS5?
(2) Where are Release Notes for EHS5?
(3) Is it possible to use 1 command to gather signal strength or does my application have to manage 2 commands and 2 values?
(4) How can I detect what network the module is using (2G or 3G) so I can report the correct signal strength to my backend system?
Thank you
Hi,
What about 4G?
I am using els81 dev kit and when issued AT+CSQ COMMAND it shows 7,99 etc. but it sends sms and connects to the internet as well.
I have to display signal strenth so kindly suggest.

Hello,
CSQ shows signal strength (RSSI) for all technologies. However signal strength is not enough to ***** the signal quality. Only for 2G it can be enough to use signal strength only. For other technologies it is not. The signal may be strong while the quality bad due to high interference.
Please see this thread for 3G: https://iot-developer.thalesgroup.com/threads/atsmoni-vs-atcsq-ehs6-sign...
Please see these links for more information about the parameters (also for 4G):
