EHS6T-USB unusable after firmware update failure | Thales IoT Developer Community

Hello
We were updating the firmware by means of the tool given in "ehsx_rev03.001_arn0000051" (the complete name of the executable is "ehsx_gwinswup_rev03.001_arn0000051.exe"). We used ASC0 at 115200 .
We got success in a couple EHS6T-USBs.
But one of our EHS6T-USBs got a failure in the updating proccess and now it's unusable.
*It's doesn't repond to ASC0 AT cmds
*When I connect an USB cable, I can't see the "Cinterion EHx USB Com PortX (COMXX)" list in the Windows Device Manager (section Ports (COM and LTP) ) . So is not possible to send at commands by USB
Hello,
If the firmware update failed after the old firmware was deleted and before the new firmware was completely installed the module does not have any firmware now. But still it should have the bootloader. Do you see any new USB device added when you connect and switch on the module? There should still be one new device.
In such case when you power up the module it should start in a firmware upload **** and should wait for firmware upload on ASC0 for 10 seconds after start and then on USB. So you should reboot the module and start gWinSwup, choose the appropriate port, check "No Firmware in Module" and start. You have 10 seconds after booting to do it on ASC0.
If you will not be able to install the firmware with gWinSwup the only thing you can dso is to report the broken module to your supplier or local Gemalto office.

Thanks, it works!
I regain my USB comXXs and everything looks normal.
First , I connected the ASC0 to my PC (I'm using a usb-rs232 cable, a virtual com)
Second, I prepared the "ehsx_gwinswup_rev03.001_arn0000051.exe" , with the "No firmware in module" option and the proper COM at 115200 baud rate (the last that worked) .
Third , I turned on the EHS6T-USB.Fourth , I pressed "START" (...Inside the 10 seconds from turn on...) and VOILA!
Just a question ...
What's the real function of the "Recovery File System" option. I didn't checked it and I can't find too much information about it
Regards
Hello,
Great!
It's OK that you havent checked the "Recovery File System" option - it's for the case when the file system is damaged. For example if you can't install and uninstall applications or have some other problem with file operations that could suggest some problem with file system. This option should then be able to recreate the file system. I've probably never had a need to use it.
