EHS8 and GPS Configuration (JSR179 Java Location API) | Thales IoT Developer Community

Hello,
For testing the GPS Engine on the concept board using the JSR179, do we need to configure any settings via AT commands before using JSR179? If not, what sort of GPS configuration does it configure to if its not using A-GPS? Is it using Local GPS?
Also, do we need to buy an external antenna when using GPS on this concept board?
Thanks,
Jason
Hello,
I did a test with my module and I think that I know why the commands did not work for you. When you set the file size and log **** once, it's then not possible to change it until you switch "Nmea/Interface" to something else. It's not an obvious behavior and it seems that it's not descibed. Both commands you have pasted worked for me in this way.

Bartłomiej
Interesting. However, the interface I tried to change was from asc0, and before that it was local. When I want to change to file, it gives an error on both the file option variations I gave earlier.
Hello,
On my module it's possible even if GPS engine is currently sterted.
I'm testing on EHS8 REVISION 03.001 A-REVISION 00.000.55. Please check ATI1 output for your module.
Maybe there's no free space on the file system.

Bartłomiej
Ah, it looks like you have a later firmware than me. Could it be that this is the cause? Can you send me the latest firmware link and instructions on updating it?
Here is my ATI1 response:
Cinterion
EHS8
REVISION 03.001
A-REVISION 00.000.14
OK
Hello,
do you have access to extranet? ARN 55 should be available there. If no, please let me know, I will send it to you.
Best regards,
Adam
Hello,
I don't think so. Can you send it to me? I notice there is a new installation CD posted(04.0003). Does this mean there is a new firmware greater than REVISION 00.000.55 as well?
Thanks
Hello,
You're right, there are new FWs greater than ARN 55, but rel.4 has different hardware than rel.3. So you cannot flash rel.3 module to rel.4. For older EHS modules, ARN55 is still the latest available FW.
I will send you ARN55 FW on private message.
Best regards,
Adam
Hi Adam,
I have not received the FW. What method are you using to send it to me?
Thanks.
Hi Jason,
Please check your mailbox.
Best regards,
Adam
