IMP_NG_ELSx_REMOTE1 device keeps disappearing | Thales IoT Developer Community

Hi,
I am using ELS61-E2 chip on the Cinterion Connect Shield. Also, I have a Windows 10 machine. Although I know that it is recommended to use Windows 7, I didn't have these kind of probems so far and I could program the board withouth a problem. I am using recommended NetBeans 7.2 and jdk 7u25.
The problem is that I didn't changed anything on the installation but the IMP_NG_ELSx_REMOTE1 device in the NetBeans disappeared. I had that problem earlier but after reinstalling the whole Gemalto SDK it appeared again. Not this time. I did try to repair and also to uninstall and install everything again. When I turn on the NetBeans again it shows the remote device but only the first time I look at the platforms and devices. After that it is not there.
I also did reinstalled JDK and NetBeans, but it is always the same. When I do the installation the device is at some point of the installation recognized.
The other 4 devices are there. I did try to manualy add the WTK in the NetBeans and it is the same.
What could be the problem?
Best regards,
Toma
Hello,
And are you using the same workspace for the new installation? I'm more familiar with Eclipse and sometimes it helps for some strange problems to use a new clean workspace - there may be something broken inside and it might be hard to find it.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer.
When I install the NetBeans I am not asked at any point about the workspace. I did tried to remove all the workspaces relited with the NetBeans and reinstalled it again, but still the same problem remains.

Toma
Hello,
OK, I've installed NetBeans and there is no such workspace as in Eclipse, just a folder for projects. So maybe such data is stored in some other folder like .nbi in your home directory.
You could try to unistall Netbeans, delete any folder taht will not be removed and install it again to fix the proble or exclude Netbeans as the source of this problem.
Generally you need the module connecte to install REMOTE1 device and then you should keep connecting it to the same USB to be sure that the debugging will still work. But I suppose that this was not the case here. As I understand the REMOTE1 device was available in NB after installation and then it disappeared. Did it disappear after NB restart? Was it possible to run the MIDlet before it dissapeared?

Bartłomiej
Hi,
I did reinstalled NetBeans couple of *****. That didn't helped. I am always using the same USB port and when I reinstall the Gemalto SDK the module is turned on.
The REMOTE1 device appeares only after I reinstall the whole Gemalto SDK (Setup.exe). But it is strange because when I go to 'Java Platform Manager' I can see the 'IMP_NG_ELSx_REMOTE1' but also 'REMOTE1' for other devices as well (BGS5_REMOTE1, EHSx_REMOTE1 and PDSx_REMOTE1). And after that, I don't have to turn off and on again the NB in order to loose them, I just need to get out of the Java Platform Manager and get in again and after that every _REMOTE1 device is gone.
Best regards,
Toma
Hello,
This is really mysterious. I haven't heared about such case before. Have you tried to only integrate Cinterion WTK manually as described in the Java User's Guide document?
It seems that it disappears when you try to use it for the first time. This is significant. So maybe this problem is connected with some antivirus or firewall software that you are using that for some unknown reason deletes some important files or moves to quarantine. Or it's some other software that your IT is installing on your PC.

Hi,
Yes, I did tried to install it manually.
I've tried it with firewall on and off, but nothing changed. I've looked the things I've installed at the time this problem occured and those softwares shouldn't block any device on com port. But, I will try to delete the softwares I've installed.
Best regards,
Toma
That didn't helped either.

Hello,
You have written it was working some time ago. And you probably didn't change the Gemalto software, did you?
So maybe it has something to do with system updates that were installed lately. And I'd rather bet on some antivirus then firewall. Have you checked any logs?
Have you also tried on some other PC? And maybe different OS.
